Sweden
It’s bad news for Africans seeking asylum in Sweden.
Swedish authorities say they can only allow between 70,000 to 140,000 asylum seekers this year.
The country has promised it wouldn’t allow the numbers to even get to the threshold.
Its migration agency said it initially expected up to 140,000 asylum seekers from the Middle East, Asia and from Africa this year.
According to the Swedish government, new measures will be introduced to curb the influx but the existing measures remain in place as long as necessary.
Sweden took in more than 163,000 asylum seekers last year, a number that is twice the record set during the Balkan war of the 90s.
